PROFILE
Left winger Michael is from Widnes, and has been at the club since he was 11 years
old. He represented England in the Victory Shield in 2002 in a game against Wales, and was
a regular member of Dave Shannon's u17 side in 2003/04.
The change in the Academy set up the following season meant that many of the
younger players at the club were unable to force their way into the u18 set up, but
Michael's u16 side enjoyed great success. He's a skilful, quick winger with a great left
foot, who should be a key player for John Owens' u18 side this season.
A left sided midfielder, Michael possesses a really good touch, is capable of
whipping in dangerous crosses and can pass the ball well. Reds Under-18 manager John Owens
said: "In the 2005/2006 season Michael didn't get as many games as he would have
liked because we had Adam Hammill and Paul Barratt ahead of him. We tried him at left back
and he did very well so we may look at that again this season.
