Update 11.07.05 |
Transferred from to
Liverpool in summer 2002.
PROFILE
French international central midfielder Alou Diarra left Liverpool in June 2005 to
seal a permament move to Lens after a successful season's loan spell.
Diarra spent the entire 2004/05 season on loan back in France with Lens and
captained the team, and also made his international bow for France.
Diarra became Gerard Houllier's first summer signing of 2002 when he signed a five
year deal with the Reds but was only seen once in a red shirt since. That was in
pre-season 2002 when he played 45 minutes at centre half in a pre-season friendly in Le
Havre.
Since then he has been out on loan in France, first for a season at Le Havre then
playing for Bastia for the whole of the 2003/04 season.
Diarra couldn't break into the Bayern Munich team but did gain experience on loan
at German side Freiburg during the 2001-2002 season.
A defensive midfielder, Diarra moved to Bayern Munich from French second division
side CS Louhans-Caiseaux in 2000, and appeared during the 2000/01 campaign in Bayern's
third-league side.
