PROFILE
A left back or left half, local lad Phil Ferns signed professional forms at Anfield
a couple of months before his 20th birthday in September 1956.
However, due to the fine form of Ronnie Moran and Tommy Leishman, it wasn't until
the 1962-63 season however that he made the grade at Anfield. His debut came in a 4-1 win
at home to Manchester City in August 1962 and the following season he made 18 appearances
as Liverpool won the League championship for the sixth time.
He moved to Bournemouth in August 1965 before finishing his playing career with
Mansfield Town. |
