  PROFILE

Iceland Under-21 international striker Haukur Ingi Gudnason was signed by Roy Evans in February 1998 from his hometown club Keflavik for J150,000, but didn't make a single league appearance.

His only appearances for the first team were in friendly matches. His first game was the Walter Smith Testimonial at Ibrox in March 1998. The Reds lost 1-0 and Gudnason came on as a 74th minute replacement for Karlheinz Riedle. He also figured on the pre-season tour when G?rd Houllier arrived as joint manager with Evans at the start of the 1998-99 season, coming on as a 74th minute substitute for Danny Murphy in a 3-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road.

He figured on numerous occasions for Liverpool Reserves but due to the intense competition for a forward place at Anfield could not force his way into the squad.

Gudnason had a six-month loan spell with Icelandic side KR Reykjavik and helped the team win the Championship in 2000. He returned to Anfield briefly before being released by the club in December 2000.
