PROFILE
Republic of Ireland international winger Mark Kennedy was signed from Millwall for
J2 million in 1995.
An impressive display for Millwall against Arsenal in a cup tie caught Roy Evans
eye and he swooped to bring the smooth talking Dubliner to Anfield.
Kennedy's career at Anfield was a case of what might have been. His debut came at
Anfield as a substitute against Leeds United. With the Reds 1-0 down he crashed a drive
from 30-yards onto the underside of the bar and it somehow stayed out. If that had gone in
his career could have been different.
Kennedy was restricted to substitute appearances and with Evans not deploying
wingers it was difficult for him to make an impact.
Frustrated, he left for Wimbledon in 1998, and after a successful spell with
Manchester City Kevin Keegan sold him to Wolves for J3 million in the summer of 2001.
