  PROFILE

Liverpool born Doug Livermore came through the junior ranks at Anfield but failed to establish himself in the first team due to the outstanding form of Ian Callaghan and Peter Thompson.

A midfield player, Livermore signed professional forms in November 1965 but over the next five years at Anfield he only appeared for Liverpool's first-team on 17 occasions.

Although it was an obvious disappointment not to make it at his hometown club, deep down Doug knew his future lay away from Merseyside and it was no surprise when he was transferred to Norwich City in November 1970.

Further spells followed with Bournemouth, Cardiff and Chester and then he ventured into coaching. After roles back at Cardiff he then filled a similar role at Swansea under John Toshack's management. He was appointment assistant manager to Mike England for the Wales international team before a successful spell with Tottenham Hotspur, including a brief role as caretaker manager.

When Roy Evans took over at Anfield, he brought Doug Livermore back to Liverpool as his assistant to work alongside Ronnie Moran and during his time with the Reds he played a part in the Coca Cola Cup triumph of 1995.

When Gerard Houllier took sole control at Anfield in 1999 Livermore left Liverpool and he's currently back at Norwich, where he's working under Nigel Worthington.

Transferred from Norwich City to Cardiff City in August 1975.
