STAFF PROFILE
Former player Mike Marsh will coach the Academy U18s in the 2011-12 season.
He joined the Academy in July 2009 and worked alongside Steve Cooper coaching the
U16s during 2010-11.
During his playing days Marsh was a cultured midfielder with an eye for a pass and
made 101 appearances in a red shirt, scoring six goals.
He was handed his Liverpool debut by Kenny Dalglish as a substitute against
Charlton Athletic but Kopites best remember him for scoring with a super header at the
Anfield Road end against Auxerre in the memorable UEFA Cup comeback in November 1991.
Marsh played in the reserve team at Liverpool for four years before he got his big
break in the 1991-1992 season.
He also scored a memorable goal at Anfield in a 5-0 win over Crystal Palace at
Anfield, but was sold by Graeme Souness in 1993 to West Ham United along with David
Burrows in a swap deal for Julian Dicks.
Marsh continued to have a good playing career and reunited with Souness again
during a spell in Turkey with Galatasaray.
He returned to Liverpool in July 2009 to coach the youngsters at the Academy.
