STAFF PROFILE
Chris arrived at Melwood during the 2005-06 campaign as part of the physiotherapy
team.
He plays an active role in overseeing rehabilitation from long-term injuries and
liaises closely with fitness coaches to integrate the players back into training.
"A large part of our work is injury prevention and we are continually striving
to improve our methods to prevent injuries from happening both during training and
games," he says.
"It's vital we get a smooth and speedy progression from the time of injury
until the time they are back playing for Liverpool. That's why myself and one of the
fitness coaches work together to ensure a rapid transition from rehabilitation back into
training.
"I continue to work with the reserve team on a match day as much as possible
to keep my emergency pitch-side skills up to date and I also travel with the first team to
provide medical support to the head physiotherapist and club doctor."
Prior to his move to Liverpool, Chris graduated from Bradford University in 2000
and worked in the NHS and private practice before going on to work in the footballing
academies of both Manchester City and Leeds United.
As part of his continuing professional development, he is currently completing a
Masters in manual therapy at MMU.
