PROFILE
Cork born left back Shane O'Connor is now into his third year at Academy level.
Under-18s manager Hughie McAuley said: "Shane is a really good lad who works
really hard in training every day and in every game that we play.
"We made the decision to keep him with us this season as an Under-19 player
because he can play in our team. He fills the left back slot nicely and he will compete
with the likes of Christopher Buchtmann. Shane gives us that security down the left side
and he did very well in pre-season.
"He is an excellent lad to have around the Academy and he also talks to the
other young players because he sends the right message out to everyone. He's a really good
professional player and people look up to him because they respect the job he does for
us."
