  PROFILE

A full-back, who played on both flanks for Liverpool. Preston-born Steve signed for Liverpool in May 1948 but didn’t make his first-team debut until the opening day of the 1951-52 season. He made 16 appearances that season and another 4 the following year but never seriously threatened Ray Lambert’s position at full-back. Steve moved to Exeter in May 1955 but returned to the North-West at the end of 1956 to end his playing days at Rochdale.
