PROFILE
Piechnik blossomed in Denmark's victorious Euro 92' squad, showing considerable
man-marking skills against some of the best forwards in the world. Souness could have been
forgiven for thinking Piechnik was a quality defender. Piechnik was tormented by Liverpool
old boy Dean Saunders on his debut and Deano put two past Liverpool and the troubled Dane.
Piechnik made only one appearance the following season, embarassingly taken off at
half-time after Newcastle had run Liverpool ragged. He was released by Evans at the end of
the season.
