  PROFILE

German striker Marvin Pourie arrived at the Academy from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2007 and scored 12 goals in his first year with the Under-18s.

Pourie is a striker with pace and loves scoring goals.

Under-18s manager Hughie McAuley said: "Marvin started last season very well but then in the second half it was a little bit disappointing. He has now come to terms with football life in England and the type of game we play.

"He is capable of scoring goals at any time in a game but he needs to improve his all-round game and his hold-up play. He is a real competitor though and is desperate to do well.

"There is a lot of competition up front this season with Lauri Dalla Valle and James Ellison, and Nathan Eccleston, so he's going to have to keep on top of his game. I like the competition but there will be times when I rotate the strikers to give everybody their fare share of games. Marvin is capable of doing really well."
