STAFF PROFILE
Gonzalo Rodriguez has been fitness coach to the reserve team since July 2008.
The Spaniard's job involves working with second string boss Gary Ablett to keep the
players in top condition throughout the season.
Gonzalo, a former professional handball player who represented Spain at youth
level, also travels round the country with the reserves.
"To accept the job was a very easy decision," he says. "Liverpool is
one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"I supported Liverpool - it is true. Even before Rafa Benitez came here I
supported them because of the Kop. I'd seen it on TV and I thought it was amazing."
Prior to his arrival in England, Gonzalo had three jobs: PE teacher; fitness
trainer for professional sportsman; and under-15s coach at La Liga side Valladolid.
He has a degree in fitness coaching (specialising in football) and is currently
working towards his doctorate.
