  PROFILE

Archie was a Scottish inside-forward who arrived on Merseyside at the end of the 1920's. James Clarke started the 1929-30 season at inside-left but was replaced after only two games by Henry Race for the next thirteen. Archie then took over the No. 10 shirt and only missed two matches between his debut on 23rd November 1929 and the end of that season, in which he was on the scoresheet 5 times.

Archie was one of two 'ever-presents', the other being Tommy Lucas, in 1930-31 and he contributed 10 goals to the season's league total of 86 but only two goals followed a year later when he was restricted to 28 First Division appearances. Although he stayed at Anfield for another three seasons, the number of games he played in reduced each time until he made the last of his 133 league and FA cup appearances for Liverpool in a home match with Leicester City on 17th November 1934.
