Matchday at Anfield
The two Anfield groundsmen will be assisted by two or three extra ground staff from
the club's training ground - Melwood. They assist by filling divots at half time and
usually for restore the pitch for two hours after full time.
There are 400-420 stewards in attendance on a matchday, and 65 police officers,
along with a doctor, two paramedic teams and 40 St John Ambulance officers.
Safety features at the ground include an in-house Police Station, a fire warning
system linked to Merseyside Fire Brigade, electronic exit gates, CCTV camera. |
Getting to the ground
From the north
Travel on the M6 until Junction 28 then follow signs for Liverpool on the A58 and
proceed into Walton Hall Avenue past Stanley Park and turn left into Anfield Road for
Liverpool FC.
From the south
Travel on the M6, then onto the M62 until the end of Motorway then turn right on
the A5058 into Queens Drive. After approximately 3 miles turn left into Utting Avenue.
After 1 mile turn right into Anfield Road for Liverpool FC.
From the west
Use the Mersey Tunnel to get into Liverpool city centre and then follow signs for
Preston A580 into Walton Hall Avenue, then on nearside of Stanley Park turn right into
Anfield Road for Liverpool FC.
From the east
Travel on the M6, then onto the M62 until the end of Motorway then turn right on
the A5058 into Queens Drive. After approximately 3 miles turn left into Utting Avenue.
After 1 mile turn right into Anfield Road for Liverpool FC.
By train
Anfield is a half an hour walk from Lime Street Station, best bet is to get a taxi!
The Pitch
During the season the Anfield pitch is cut twice a week, and during close season
(when the grass grows more quickly) four times a week. The grass is one inch high during
the season and two inches at any other times.
Improved recent features at Anfield include a new playing surface, new drainage
system, new under soil heating and new perimeter track.
Is inside and outside the ground, four fully equipped first aid rooms and three
ambulances. |
