PROFILE
Banton started his career in the youth team of Arsenal from an early age but had a
short spell at neighbours Tottenham Hotspur before rejoining the club. In 2008 he fell out
with the Arsenal hierarchy and joined Premier League rivals Blackburn Rovers, who beat off
competition from Manchester City to sign him. Things didn't work out at Blackburn for
Banton and Kenny Dalglish brought him to Liverpool in January 2011 after a successful
trial. In the summer of 2011 he signed for Championship side Leicester City on a one-year
contract.
In September 2011, he joined League Two side Burton Albion on a one-month loan. He
made his professional debut against Bradford City in a 22 at the Pirelli Stadium,
coming on as a second half substitute for Justin Richards.
In December 2011 it was reported that Banton had signed with Major League Soccer
and would enter the MLS SuperDraft. He had already spent time previously with the Chivas
USA reserve squad. On January 17, 2012 Banton was selected by Seattle Sounders FC as the
34th pick in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. Banton was cut by the Sounders during
training camp.
In August 2012, he appeared for Crystal Palace U21s against Liverpool U21s. Yet
unknown if he's on trial or if he's been offered a contract.
