     PROFILE

  Spanish central defender Rafael Paez completed a permanent move to Liverpool's Academy set-up before the end of the 2013 summer transfer window, after impressing the club's coaches during a trial over the summer.

Appreciated for his positioning sense and strength at the back, the 19-year-old had represented Real Madrid's youth teams for several seasons before being offered a chance by the Reds.

The Alicante-born defender, who can also perform at full-back, made his first appearance for Liverpool for Alex Inglethorpe's U21s, producing an assured performance in aiding the young Reds to a 2-0 league victory over Manchester City in September 2013.
